My SIL Annie is an elementary school teacher, and with summer break coming up, I wanted to surprise her with an end of the year gift! So, I made the beauty below:
I bought an 8x10 frame from the Dollar Store and a box of crayons. The white glittery stickers and black cardstock I used, I already had in my scrapbooking stash. I unwrapped the crayons, but I think it would be just as cute with them wrapped. I decided how long the "base of the P" crayons were going to be and worked by way up. I cut the crayons using the sharpest knife I had, which was a steak knife. As you can see it didn't make the cleanest cuts, but I like the haphazard look. I found rolling the crayon as I cut into it, helped make the slice more even. The only glue I had on hand was my trusty glue gun and sticks, so that's what I tried. The smell of the melting wax from the crayons were kind of addicting (wink wink). To my great surprise it worked just fine, and the crayons are holding well. I removed the glass from the frame, and to give the piece more stability I glued the black cardstock directly to the back of the frame backing. After placing the piece into the frame, I decided I like the raw edges better, so no frame either. I added her name with the stickers, and wah-lah! Makes a great teachers gift. I'm also planning on making one for M's room, of course :)
We would love to see your creations!! Feel free to send us your projects, and link back to us. Happy Creating!
