Happy Memorial Day!

 Remember. Don't forget.
Memorial Day—a day that commemorates United States soldiers who died while honoring, serving and fighting for our country. We wanted to take some time to say THANK YOU to all the service men and women who are serving, and who have served for us. We appreciate you and your families for your sacrifice. Cheers to you, not just today, but everyday!

What a sight! There's just something so beautiful about an American flag blowing in the wind. Now picture ONE THOUSAND of these beauties all lined up = breathtaking. Little Miss M was in awe of them too.

We hope you are all having an amazing, wonderful, memorable long weekend with the people you love.

P.S. New pieces to be added to the Shoppe throughout the day today!! Check back often.

Chocolate Cloud Cookies

I invented these by mistake one day. It is rare that one of my mess ups results in something wonderful, but this time it did! I call them Chocolate Cloud Cookies! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do over here.

What you need:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup shorting
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Marshmallows, cut in half

Mix all ingredients (except marshmallows) in bowl.
Drop by spoonfulls onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes.
Take out of oven and place a marshmallow half on top of each cookie.
Put them back in oven for 2-3 more minutes.
Frost with chocolate frosting.

You can buy the frosting already made from the store, the kind you frost cakes with, or if you want to make it yourself....

Add cocoa, butter, powdered sugar together and beat with electric mixer.
(Sorry I have no idea how much of each, I just guesstimate) I can tell you that you need very little butter and lots of powdered sugar. Play around with it, til you get the right consistency and taste.

Enjoy!!

Linking up with these tasty parties today :)

Father's Day Ideas - Part 1

Well fellow moms, we have had our day in the sun, and now it is time for us to stand aside and honor the wonderful dads in our lives. His big day is coming upon us; I have been working (leisurely) on a few things for Father's Day, which by the way is on Sunday June, 19. I just finished this one up today, and thought that it turned out pretty darn cute.

This is something you can throw together in just minutes. It is fun, cute and has "dad" written all over it.

All you need is paper, ribbon and glue. Cut out a tie shape. I used my Silhouette, because I am spoiled and I wouldn't dare cut out a circle without its precise and perfect help ;) but you can just eyeball it. As long as you can get the general shape down, it will be fine. Glue each tie to a ribbon, and then cut small strips of ribbon and tie them between each tie. You can add words if you want, or just leave it as it is. Super cute either way!

Stay tuned to see more of what we have been working on to say THANK YOU to the favorite men in our lives!

Quick Grad Gift Idea - Tutorial

We posted some ideas for some graduation gifts here.
**************
My little sister is graduating high school this year (sniff), and I wanted to give her something she could wear grad night. The Candy/Money Lei was super easy and fun to make, plus makes a great impact! And come on, who doesn't like moolah?!

Here's the steps:
Unroll a length of plastic wrap on a table, I measured out approx. 50 inches. Make sure the plastic wrap is smooth, without large wrinkles or folds.
Place your candy at even intervals along the middle down the full length of the plastic wrap, as shown.
Fold the top half of the plastic wrap down over the row of candy, and fold the bottom half up. This will form a long tube of candy.
Cut each ribbon (in my case I had her high school colors in ric rac so that's what I used) approx 12 inches in length. Since I could fit 7 Fruit by the Foots (her fav candy), I used 7 pieces of green ric rac, and four pieces of white (I ran out, ha). The amount you use depends on how many "spaces" you have.
I intertwined the white and green ric rac, and then tied it in the space between each candy.
Join the ends together. I used fishing wire.
At the top I connected the end pieces together with tape, and then wrapped it with just the green ric rac.
Another version I made below:
Same steps as the Fruit by the Foot lei, but instead of tying ribbon between each candy, I twisted it and stapled it to keep it in place.
To make the money bows, I just folded the bill in half long ways.
And then folded it again, one more time.
I then tied them to every other space between the chocolates.
*Use hard candy... now that I think of it, the chocolate could possibly melt*
Get your dollar bills out, or if you're a high roller (wink wink), feel free to throw in some twenty dollar bills in there too! Experiment with different candies and different lengths. Possibilities are endless! Happy Creating!

Tutu Storage Display - Tutorial

I've had this vision in my head ever since I found out I was carrying a baby girl in my belly. You can't go wrong with brightly colored tutus hanging on the wall, now can you?
I purchased one long piece of white particle board and six knobs for this project from Home Depot. We (aka my FIL, thanks Gpa!) cut the board in half. We then pre-drilled the holes and attached the knobs to the boards. We hung it up, and are now enjoying this new addition to M's room. Total project not including the nails was a whopping $8!!
Imagine the possibilities on what you can hang from the knobs! For example, on the middle knob I decided to hang her outfit she is going to wear the next day. How's that for pre planning (wink wink). You can add or use less knobs. Also, there are a million different kinds of knobs. I just went for plain and simple, because I knew I was hanging tutus on them, but you can get as fancy as you want with colors and designs. Still brain storming how to decorate the rest of this wall. Stay tuned :)
I would love to see what you come up with!!
Feel free to send us your projects, and link back to us. Happy Creating!
