Big Top/Pink Elephant Party - Invitations

Today we are throwing M's big birthday bash, so I thought I would share her birthday invitations with you, our awesome readers! Since I waited till last minute, I wanted something quick and easy! Semi-digital it was! I created both items using the free programs Picnik and Picasa. The one with her picture I just added the text and had it printed at Walmart. The actual invite with info, I opened up a blank canvas in Picnik, changed the colors and added the mustache clipart. I then opened that file in Picasa and added the text.
I also had those printed at Walmart, both 4x6.
I then took out my trusty elephant punch, and some fun "pink circus-y" scrapbook paper I've had forever and went to town, punching the elephants out.
It doesn't hurt when you have the cutest helper too!
I added a strip of the paper to the middle area as well. Note: Before I had the invites printed I had the finished product in my head, so I left these open spaces on the invite with the end result in mind.
And there you have it! Since I had the invites printed, it seriously took me less than 10 min to finish them. Love how they turned out :)

Are birthday's celebrated big at your house? We would love to see pictures of any types of parties you have had. We might even feature them here on our blog! Send us an email: jandmseyecandy@hotmail.com

"A quilt just big enough to cover up in the car, and the pillow to go with it".
(the pillow is the size of my travel pillows (9'' square) and the quilt measures 40'' X 49'')
NOT ONLY is the winner getting this beautiful quilt and matching pillow, Amber is also throwing in the pattern for both items!! Here's a little note from Amber:
*************************************************

Hello everyone, my name is Amber and I'm a quilt addict! I run a little blog space over at Quilted Euphoria.

I have been married to my best friend for four and a half years, and even though we drive each other crazy, (he leaves his socks on the couch...) we still somehow, want to be around each other all the time! (don't ask me how...).

He's from Tennessee and I'm from Utah, so we have family in both places. We just moved back to Utah after living in Tennessee for four years. I'm glad to be back but I miss my TN family a lot. So I quilt to deal with that...well...I quilt for all kinds of reasons really, this is just the one I'm using today. :-)

I started falling in love with quilting at a young age. My grandmother made quilts for all occasions, and I remember becoming fascinated with her process early on. My very first quilt that I did myself was made when I was 19 out of leftover pioneer dress fabric. I then caught the sickness and started making many more. I decided to turn my love of quilting into a business as a way to supplement my husband's income after I got married, and have been going full steam ahead ever since.

I started this blog as a way to share my addiction with everyone I meet! I wanted to get my name out there, promote my business and turn doing what I love my way of life. But mostly, I just want to share the quilting addiction! As much as I love quilting, I also love making all kinds of things with fabric. Tote bags, pillows, aprons, table runners, you name it! My husband is baffled by this as I'm not patient in anything else in life, yet I craft and quilt! (He calls me his walking quilting oxymoron!) I can't help it, there's just something so addicting about cutting up perfectly good pieces of fabric and sewing them back together again. I will never understand it, I just give in to it!

I love meeting new friends in real life and in my blogging life. So I'd love to have you come over to my blog, read, stay and become a follower. (I promise, I won't make you eat a raw chicken or anything...at least not on your first visit!). I hope to get to know all of you better, & thanks for stopping in!

What We Wore Wednesday - July 27th

Hello Hump Day!  Welcome to another episode of What WE Wore.  My hubby and I are still flying solo this week, so lots of going out and being adults.  We have seen more movies and eaten out more this week then ever.  In fact I bet that in the eight years that I have been a "mommy" we didn't go out as much as we did these last couple of weeks!  It has been a blast, but am ready for my monkeys to come home please :)

We ate at Dave and Buster's on Friday, and I beat hubby at a game of basketball.  I rock, I know.   Here is my casual going out outfit.
Jeans: Silver, T-Shirt: Target, Sweater Vest: Charlotte Russe, Necklace: Lia Sophia, Watch: J&M's Eye Candy Shoppe
********************************************
Is it really already Wednesday?! Summer is just flying!! This last week we were able to sneak in date night and a family fishing trip! I totally dug this top, until I saw the picture :/ Bleh! I thought the cut of the shirt would be forgiving, but it wasn't... just made me look extra fluffy... BOO! A refashion needs to be in the works, because I LOVE the top of the shirt. My little fam snuck in for my other picture (wink).
Date Night outfit - Top, skinnies, and sandals: Ross, Rose cabochon ring: JandMsEyeCandyShoppe. Fishing trip outfit - Top: Sister's closet, Shorts: Sears, Tank: F21, Earrings: JandMsEyeCandyShoppe

PLEASE take a minute to comment on each others posts. Feedback is what this is all about, and everyone loves comments!! Fun right?! So let's get this party started!
****************************************
M is turning the BIG ONE this Friday! I think I'm a wee bit in denial... this year as "momma" I have learned so much! I read this post here by bloggie friend Lacee who linked it up to Help a Momma Out last week (thanks Lacee!), and I couldn't help but laugh and relate on every level! I couldn't help but think, "oh man, M isn't even a one year old yet!" What were/are some of your pre-mommy notions?
We love the park!
There were many pre-mommy thoughts I thought as well, things I told myself I would NEVER do... all pretty similar to Lacee's.

Now I am also "that mom." And you know what, I'm ok with that. I am actually pretty darn proud! Tooting my own horn here, but really as mom's we can't really wait for someone else to toot our horn (wink).

All kids are different, all situations are different, and what works for some moms might not work for another. At the end of the day, M is a happy girl and she is loved. Did you check out the above picture!? She is our ball of sunshine! Allowing her to eat french fries and even dirt sometimes is really O.K. She is thriving and with our families and friends, she will continue to do so. Hope you have all had a wonderful week so far! Can't wait to share with you the details of M's Big Top/Pink Elephant Party!

Another Chicken Recipe

I am sure you are all saying out there, "another chicken recipe?" Yup, we eat a lot of chicken around here. Chicken and desserts, that's all I am really good at ;) So, hint, hint, if anybody out there has any recipes they want to email to me that doesn't include chicken, PLEASE do! My family will thank you for it.

For now, back to the chicken. I call this one chicken roll up.

What you need:
1 pkg. (6 oz) Stove Top Stuffing Mix for Chicken
1 cup water
6 small boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1 1/2 lb.)
1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen chopped broccoli, thawed, drained
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 cup fat free milk
1 tsp. paprika
2 Tbsp. Kraft 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese

What to do:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine stuffing mix and water in large bowl. Let stand 5 minutes. Meanwhile, pound chicken to 1/4-inch thickness using meat mallet.

Add broccoli to stuffing; mix lightly.

 Spread evenly over chicken breasts.

Roll up each chicken breast from the short end. No picture of this it is a two hand job. I roll with one hand, and hold the mixture with my other hand.

Place the chicken, seam side down, in 13X9-inch baking dish. Mix soup and mild and pour over the top. Sprinkle with paprika and Parmesan Cheese.

Bake 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through (170 degrees).

We are here alone this week, no kids, so I only made two chicken breasts, and just made the adjustments with the stuffing and broccoli.

This isn't your Momma's Sequins

My entry into Wow Me Wednesday sponsored
by Appliances Online and Bosch Washing Machines

My first time attempting a "fashion" post was with the hip and stylin' Meagan over at The Fairly Fabulous Blog, about a month ago. I figured I'd post the tutorial here for our archives as well.

When I'm not creating Eye Candy for our shop, I'm attempting to refashion clothes for myself and M. A huge drawback tho is I am not a seamstress. I'm pretty sure I could sew a button onto a shirt if I "had" to, but don't bet on it (wink wink). I came across the graphic tee below and fell in love....
Source
With a price tag of $34.90, I couldn't justify buying it, so I thought I'd try to make a similar one. With the help of one of my BFF's a.k.a. Aleene's Fabric Fusion, I did just that! Let's get this party started!
Gather your Supplies: Article of Clothing (in my case a tank top), Fabric Fusion (Aleene's), A roll of sequins (I used single strand for this shirt), and cardboard
Start off by placing the cardboard inside your article of clothing. This will keep the glue from leaking onto the other side while you work.
Next freehand a design onto your clothing. In this case I started with the letter L.
Press the sequins into the glue, following the pattern to shape out the design.
I did one letter at a time, and it worked great. If you mess up, or don't like it, just remove and start over. Dab the area that had the glue on it with a dry washcloth to remove the glue and start again. The glue is forgiving and dries on clear, and all the white flakes left from the glue will wash off.
Keep going till you're completely finished! Tada! The finished product. Allow to dry per package instructions.
I promise this is super easy! Try it, but be warned, you'll be addicted (wink wink).
 ****************************************

I also wanted to give a shout out to the talented Kristina who blogs over at Kristina Grapes, who attempted and took by storm my tutorial! Check out her version below:
Great job girl! And thanks for letting me show it off! We appreciate it!

Linking up to these fun parties today!
